Project Overview
Design a cooking app for friends and family who are living separately. They should be able to share and follow along with recipes while cooking together across their different households.
My Process Outlined
Here is a detailed outline of the research and design steps that I normally take. I normally take a human-centered design approach. For this design assessment I chose not to go past step 6 as to not spend too much time building an entire experience start to finish.

My Design Process Filled In
Here are my research and design steps as they unfolded taking part in this design assessment.

DISCOVERY
Brief Process Explanation
After framing the problem statement without mentioning any possible solutions within it, I started to conduct potential user interviews with my international friends like myself. After completing the aforementioned, I quickly Define my user which is Niloo (International Graduate Student).
Next, I organized all of my information and pulled out common themes from user interview answers along with a few notes about each. After organizing common themes and other information, I then wrote down key insights paired with "How might we" statements in order to provide a storyboard for brainstorming and prototyping.
Lastly, after setting a 7-minute timer and sketching out any and all ideas that came to mind, I reviewed each idea, chose the one I thought made the best solution, and begin to do low fidelity prototypes on paper.

Profile Page for access to favorite Recipes and send the invite to friends
Home Page for access to Articles, Videos and Recipes

Store feature I consider the bussiness value factor for my app and create the revene for my busssiness model and monetizate it

Where I landed:
The idea I landed on is one that allows users to explore a cooking article, Videos, and Recipes. The app has the main bottom global navigation consisting of 3 parts “Home” in which users can explore Articles, Videos, and Recipes. The experiences include the “Store” feature that enables users to buy all ingredients for their favorite recipes also by adding this feature I consider the business value factor for my app and create the revenue for my business model and monetize it. “Profile” feature users can save their favorite recipes and invite their friends and family to join them to have cooking time.
In my experience as a Graduate International Student, who dealing with adjustment in a new country and having a balance between their studies and communication with their family. I truly believe this would help users save time and have fun. Even while conducting user interviews, when asked how they would prefer to see the all ingredient in the recipe so they can buy them at once.
Does this keep users engaged throughout the experience?
I believe so. This answer is pretty identical to the one above. People are more engaged when information is presented and accessible through visual means, especially since they get to control it themselves.
